LRBA Member Child Scholarship

The Lake Region Builders Association is sponsoring one educational scholarship annually to a child of a LRBA member through the Lake Region Builders Foundation.  One scholarship for a minimum of $500 will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • You are eligible to apply if you are a child of a parent who is member in good standing of Lake Region Builders Association.  The parent must be the member of record (company representative) on the LRBA membership.  Children of employees of companies who are LRBA members (not the member of record on membership) are not eligible.
  • You are a dependent child of a LRBA member and will be no older than 24 years of age as of the end of the current calendar year.
  • You have a GPA of 2.0 or better – high school or college transcript required.
  • You have been accepted by or are enrolled in a post-secondary or technical program at an accredited institution.
  • You have not received a previous scholarship award from Lake Region Builders Foundation.  Applicants are encouraged to reapply if they have not previously been selected to receive a LRBA scholarship award.
  • Although we prefer a career path in the building trades, the applicant may be majoring in any field.

GUIDELINES:

  • Annual scholarships awards vary in amount based on funds available.
  • One Member Child Scholarship will be awarded each year.
  • To ensure an unbiased application process, applicant names will be unavailable to the Scholarship Committee.  Applicants will be evaluated based upon 1) their interest in enrolling in building trades classes, 2) academic achievement, and 3) community volunteering and extra-curricular activities.
  • Students receiving a scholarship must complete at least one term of post-secondary education and be enrolled for the next term at an accredited institution.  The scholarship monies will be paid directly to that institution on the student’s account.  Student must submit a copy of their transcript from their completed post-secondary education term to LRBA.
  • Students are responsible for gathering and submitting all of the information used to select the scholarship recipient(s):
  • A current high school or post-secondary school transcript
  • A completed current post-secondary school application or an acceptance letter from that school
  • A reference letter from a non-relative adult (i.e. counselor, teacher, etc.)
  • A list of community volunteer experiences and extra-curricular activities
  • Completed Member Child Scholarship Application Form
